What a token is, what consumes them, how to spend fewer, and what code download needs.
Chapter 01
Tokens and usage
Tokens measure AI work: generating an app, enhancing it, fixing a build, analysing your code. You start with 1 Million tokens free and no card. After that it is $1 (₹100) per 100,000 tokens, with no monthly subscription — you buy tokens and use them, and they are not credits that expire.
What actually consumes tokens
- Generating a new app or a new screen — the largest single cost
- Each prompt that changes files, roughly in proportion to how much it changes
- Fix all and repair rounds, because the error context is sent along with the code
- Ask and Plan, which read your project — cheaper than building, not free
Spending fewer of them
- Prompt one screen or one change at a time. Broad rewrites regenerate work that was already correct.
- Roll back instead of prompting your way out of a bad change — undoing by prompt costs tokens and often fails.
- Remix a public template when one is close to what you need.
- Use Ask to understand a problem before spending a build on the wrong fix.
Tools → Token Usage shows consumption per project, so you can see which work is actually costing you.
Chapter 02
Code download plans
Download requires a plan with code download enabled. If the Download tool shows a plan warning, upgrade at neobuild.dev/pricing. GitHub sync and your Supabase project are unaffected by this — the database is yours regardless of plan.
